RCPSG Travel Medicine Medal 2012

A bright new look for Dean Jane Chiodini’s Medallion

Jane Chiodini is the current Dean of The RCPSG’s Faculty of Travel Medicine and patron of medal. Her husband Prof. Peter Chiodini, who held the Deanship at the time of the commission, was part of the judging panel, and the original recipient of the Medallion.

Mairi Collins, Jewellery Designer and Alum of Glasgow School of Art, won the commission in 2012, designing and making the ambitious design using 3D print technologies with support from GSA’s Jewellery and Silversmithing Dept. Working from her studio in Dundee, she gave the medal a bold new look for 2019, which had its debut at the College’s Admissions ceremony in November.

"Working with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons was a fantastic opportunity as a student at Glasgow School of Art - thanks to their commission, myself and my class got the opportunity to explore the jewellery applications of 3D printing technology. I was tremendously lucky to have had my design chosen, and I'm so grateful Jane decided to contact me for its refurbishment in 2019"
